I'd like to say first and foremost that I love the "other world" look to this and your subject is interesting and original. You have shown a great sense of depth in the underwater part of the painting. I particularly find the blue figure haunting because it looks like the silhouette of a mans face and out stretched arm.
This piece showcases superb skill, natural talent and a superior amount of knowledge in the elements of design.
However, I feel that it is top heavy with too much tinted variations of your color selection. Though this may have been your focal point, it disrupts the eye flow of the piece by making it unbalanced.
I understand the concept you were going for, but I feel that the painting is lacking some unity.
Ways I feel your piece could be improved are adding a more saturated red to the tree top as well as some shaded variations. Another way to achieve balance is by adding tints (pinks) to the underwater part.
This is a lovely piece, I like it very much and have enjoyed spending time studying it!

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to respond to this. I just got home from work.
I love the colors and how they work together to set rich and multi-layer mood.
I get a real since of struggle in this. And of growth and rising above a changing world and many many feeling that I do not really have words for.

I'm not really sure... I see many things in it... it has a post-apocalyptic feeling, as if the entire world have been submerged many centuries ago, but life goes on.. the cherry blossom have survived, and new species have developped... It also suggest the inconcious versus the conscious... these creepy parts we don't always want to see but that we couldn't have flowers blooming on the surface without... and many other things I don't know how to describe...
